Senior Minister
Doug Bryan
Doug was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio, where he attended the North Terrace Church of Christ. Following
high school he attended Kentucky Christian Collage from which he graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian
Ministry. He later returned to KCC and received a Master of Ministry degree in 1989.
Doug met his wife Kay in college as she is also a graduate of KCC. Together they have three children: April,
Alan, and Ashlee.
After serving with congregations in Bainbridge, Ohio, and Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, they moved to Mt. Gilead.
They have been ministering with the Mt. Gilead Church of Christ since 1990.
Youth Minister
Jon Wachtel
Jon was born in Millersburg, Ohio and grew up in the country outside a bustling metropolis called Big Prairie. He
lived practically next door to the Ripley Church of Christ and, because of sheer convenience and his persuaive mother, he
attended there regularly throughout his childhood and young adult life.
After spending six years - doing nothing really - he decided to finally do what God wanted him to do and he enrolled
at Cincinati Bible College. Believe it or not he was on the Dean's list for the first three semesters. That was until this
short, blonde woman began to take up most of his time. He met Marlene, his bride-to-be, in the spring of 2001 at CBC when
she offered him a half-eaten cracker. He was so overwhelmed that he married her in December of that same year.
She works at 5/3 Bank in Marion, Ohio as a CSR (teller). Together they have no children nor do they have any dogs
... all they have is each other ... that and the 30-40 adopted kids from the church.
Having helped with the youth at Ripley Church for more than four years, in 2003 Jon finally stepped into his first
full-time ministry at the Mount Gilead Church of Christ ... and has been serving there ever since.
